Media cannot be separated from today’s everyday life. The question of how to view technology is not limited to media in an era of rapidly evolving digital media. Technological media coexists with humans as prosthetic beings, and the reality is often displayed via today's media art. For this reason, media art is always in flux. It is not easy to define the fluid state of flux in one word. Therefore, media art accepts its innate destiny of being unable to secure a perfect rule of proposition. The opaque reality of media art is as if it is always hidden behind a veil.
The 2023 Gwangju Media Art Festival seeks to unveil the flux of media art. <Flux Unveiled> showcases 24 artists from various media and content. Under the commonality of media, each artist expresses different content. The focus between the narrative and the image, or the weight between the role of the object and the function of interaction are completely different among the artists. The media art video exhibition explores the unknown realm by imagining the invisible world beyond our bodies through devices such as AI, immersive video, AR, and metaverse. <Flux Unveiled> is an exhibition that expands our perception beyond our bodies through media artworks that take novel approaches via electronic devices.
